FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How long will my order take?
We are currently working to a 2-3 week production time, but this can increase towards the Summer, plus shipping.
  • Help - I can't decide! May I request swatches?
It's always difficult to choose a colour on a screen or to feel how soft the lace is! We are happy to offer up to five colour swatches free of charge. Please send a message with your name, address and your fabric requests and we can usually dispatch these within a week.
  • What size should I order?
Please look at our Size Chart and if your measurements align, choose the appropriate age. All dresses are made to order, so for the best fit, contact us with these measurements in either cm or inches: Chest Waist Back of neck to waist Back of neck to mid-calf (dress length) Height Please do read the 'How do I measure?' guide. Also, please choose Corset or Zip back and any colour options. Opting for the Corset back will give extra peace of mind for the exact fit.
  • How do I take measurements?
Please take the actual, comfortable measurement near the skin, but not too tight - just a tiny bit of slack so they can breath easily. We add 3-5cm/1-2 inches for comfort and ease of movement (wriggle room!). We work in both centimetres and inches. Chest: relax the arms at the side and measure just under the armpits, all the way around the fullest part of the chest. Back of neck to waist: measure from the most prominent bone at the base of the neck (nape of neck) to the natural waist, usually about 2.5cm/1 inch above the tummy button. Dress length: Measure from back of neck (nape of neck) to the mid-calf or the preferred dress length*. * Mid-length (mid-calf) is standard but we can offer Short (to knee); Tea length (to ankle); or Full length (to ground). Height: Measure from the top of the head in a straight line to the ground.
  • Can I customise an order?
Yes, of course! We can make any combination of bodices and skirts from the fabric in the Fabric Swatch Colour Card (available separately). Dress lengths can be either Short (to knee); Mid-length (mid-calf); Tea length (to ankle); or Full length (to ground). Please contact us and we'll work with you to find your preferred design.
  • What fabrics do you use and how do you wash them?
We use Dupion Satin, Duchess Satin, Anti-static lining, Organza, Corded Lace with Sparkle, Taffeta with Sequins, All-over sequin fabric Tulle and Berisfords Double Satin Ribbon; all 100% Polyester with sequins.100% Cotton embroidery on The Lace ‘cotton embroidery’ options. Please note: Dupion Satin has a beautiful sheen and a slight irregular grain which gives a little texture. Duchess Satin (The Daisy) is slightly thicker than the Dupion with a smooth finish. Corded Lace with Sparkle (The Sparkle & Shimmer) may shed glitter over time. All-over sequin fabric (The Sparkly Sequin) may shed sequins over time. Sequin taffeta fabric (The Sequin Swirl) may shed sequins over time. Items can be washed using a delicate cycle at 30° or gently hand washed in cool water. Dry flat and cool gentle iron. Do not wring, dry clean, bleach or tumble dry. We recommend washing in a net or mesh laundry bag. Do not machine wash sequined fabric.
  • Should I choose a corset or zip back?
The corset back dress will arrive with the ribbon already in place for you to adjust together with instructions how to lace the corset as well. The corset ribbon is secured in a bow and it is entirely up to you whether the ribbons hang outside the dress, or as in the images, tucked inside the skirt. They hang between the lining and skirt so that the ribbon doesn't tickle little legs! The corset is adjustable ensuring an exact fit on the day. It also allows for growth so that the dress can be worn more than once. Often a corset back is chosen to match the bride, and becomes a feature in itself. A zip back is a classic look and it's a speedy fastening for small (wriggling!) children.
